Statement of Purpose
The FarWest Geoscience Foundation is a California-based non-profit
organization devoted to scientific research and public education in the
geosciences (geology, paleontology, geophysics, geochemistry, geomorphology,
etc.) within the western cordillera region of the Americas.
Paleontology
The FWGF has focused on paleontological resource assessment within
the western U.S. region where the resource faces acute threats due to rapid
population growth and accelerated urbanization.
Federal, state, county, and city governments are provided with sufficient
technical information to insure that paleontological resources are included
in land planning and resource management policies.
Academic and educational institutions are kept informed of a variety
of research and educational projects and programs through informal meetings,
newsletters, and presentations at professsional and scientific society
conferences.
